Sheet metal fabrication is the process of transforming flat metal sheets into metal structures and products. Sheet metal processing techniques typically involve changing various types of sheet metals into components and parts. As a result, it is helpful to consider this metal forming process as a collection of forming techniques rather than a single manufacturing process.
Laser cutting
Laser cutting is the preferred method for cutting sheets since it is a fast and precise method that ensures good results.
Shearing
Shearing, also known as die cutting, is a method of cutting sheet metal without burning or melting it. It also does not make any chips. Shearing is essentially the same as cutting with scissors. A punch presses the object against a fixed die or blade in shearing. The gap is so large that the workpiece cannot pass through, allowing it to shear. When complex cuts are not required, it is a great and cost-effective way to cut sheets into size.
Punching
Punching is another method for making holes in a sheet. A metal punch helps to perforate the sheet. It is appropriate for large-scale production but inefficient for smaller jobs since it requires a separate tool for each cut.
