If you have sliding glass doors that won’t open smoothly anymore, you may need to clean and lubricate the track.
First, use a small hand-held vacuum or vacuum attachment to remove any debris that might be stuck in the track.
After this is done, you can use an all-purpose cleaning spray to get rid of any excess dirt that is still stuck in the track.
Once you’ve cleaned out the track on your sliding glass doors, it’s time to add some lubrication.
Look for a spray-and-stay gel lubricant as it is best for metal-on-metal. Just spray it onto the track where the door will make contact.
You might also notice that the track may be deformed if you’ve had your sliding glass doors for some time.
If this is the case, you can bend it back into shape with a pair of pliers.
The goal here is to make sure that the door can move smoothly down the track without grinding against a track that’s been bent out of shape.
